LinkedIn stalker alerts - do you like them?

This made me chuckle a moment ago.  Someone is a wag...

But, seriously, I don't like this new function from LinkedIn - sending emails letting you know who has looked at your profile.

Whilst it could be useful to know who has looked at your profile, and you know it often doesn't mean anything more than it's been clicked through idle curiosity, there is something slightly uncomfortable about being told.  When it's someone like Wayne, who I know and like very much, it doesn't bother me at all - I occasionally look at friend's profiles to find out if they're up to something new - but when it's someone I don't know, I've found myself ever-so-slightly wondering why.

It's not a big deal and perhaps I'll get used to it.  But, for now, it's putting me off looking at other people's profiles because I know it's going to send them an email letting them know.  And, for me, that's what's useful about LinkedIn - to be able to check out people's credentials and find potential partners and suppliers and, occasionally, to click on an interesting-looking person's profile, without any particular agenda, just out of curiosity.  If I can't do that without someone getting an email, it's going to significantly reduce my browsing.
